AAR – MVT Brady, Texas 2026

My 9th year at Brady continues to be one of learning, pushing boundaries, and developing friendships across the nation amongst like-minded people.  In those 9 years, I have NEVER felt unsafe.  Max’s focus on safety sometimes comes out as gruff and blunt, but let’s face it – once the bullet leaves the barrel, ya can’t take it back – so, yes, safety is paramount and constantly harped on.  Not the safety-nazi focus but the basics of finger off the trigger until ready to fire, safety on until ready to fire, and muzzle always pointed in a safe direction.

The beginning of each day is spent reviewing safety, going over the what we’re going to learn on the whiteboard, then going outside to practice without weapons, then livefire what we talked about and practiced.  The drills seem easy enough, on the surface.  Kinds like learning the alphabet and simple two or three letter words.

The middle of the week sees a shift from the “simple basic” drills (though even these can get “advanced” once live fire begins – live fire interjects its own stressors into the equation, the sentence structure) to adding multiple layers and complications.  These may include sequenced attacks, satellite patrolling, and casualties.  All of a sudden, you find yourself having to play 4-D chess.  The good news is that each student has the opportunity to stay as a rifleman, or to try their hand at team lead, or even squad lead.  I have remained a rifleman the entire team, as I don’t have the skillset to move up, and have had the opportunity to watch as repeat students blossom.

The last day is spent as a “final exam” is you will, with multiple challenges midstride.  Max has the unique ability to ebb and flow the difficulty – guaranteed to stretch your mind. Think developing coherent complex sentences on the fly.

Lest anyone think anyone can “walk-on”, please check the maxvelocitytactical.com website.  Participating in the Alumni class requires a solid understanding of the basics (crawling) which are the HEAT 1 classes.  We had several who had completed HEAT 1 the week before and all were top-notch – I had ZERO reservations of working with them, they were ALL safe.

For those who think they have no need for this training, I challenge you to at least do HEAT 1.  Max teaches concepts that are applied in the various environments available to us.  But if one looks closely, EVERY THING I have learned at MVT Brady (and in the WV training center) can be applied to life in general.  Rarely does life follow our preconceived script. Brady reinforces in me how to rapidly evaluate what’s going on and act in a reasonable manner that improves my odds of winning.

William

This year MVT offered a HEAT 1 Combat Tactics Texas class and the Alumni Live Fire Class at the Ranch. We plan to continue to offer HEAT 1 and the Alumni Class going forward. Dates have been updated on the page / calendar for the 2027 Classes. LINK HERE.
