Just a quick FYI to those that didn’t make HEAT 3 (Night Ops), you missed bigly and I hope to see you guys there next year.
My takeaways:
Cost: Keep in mind that you can rent NODs for the class via JRH. This should lower the cost to attend and give you an idea of what you’re looking for.
New Stuff: The raid is at a new location (not a 20-story hike) and is set up to provide future integration with a full assault cycle. Since you’re not gassed, you can get more reps in with the teamwork and shooting.
Gear: I used the most budget-friendly set up: single tube, single IR laser, a pair of HESCOs that are good enough, and my gritty AR … and I was totally fine.
Practice: This class is the culmination of what you practice in HEAT 1 & 2 (and Squad Tactics), but you need that practice under NODs. You can’t buy the gear, not come to class, and expect to still be good to go. You’ll get rolled up like a burrito supreme.
Network: Lastly, keep in mind that what you learn at MVT is a team martial art and you can’t do it solo. Grow your local network by bringing guys you know from the range, gym, work, or church. Get some reps in on HEAT 1 with a friend.
